Girls in different age groups have taken the courses in various provinces of the country, the ministry said, Al-Ittihad daily reported.
The number of girls who learn the Quran through the summer courses is much higher than the number of boys, it said.
The Quranic courses are held in mosques, religious centers and other places, the ministry noted.
The summer holidays provide a good opportunity for spreading Quranic education among students, the ministry’s officials underline.
The Awqaf ministry had earlier announced the participation of over 50,000 of children of expatriate families in summer Quranic courses in Algeria.
